Paint Brushes

Choosing the right paint brush is just as important as choosing the right tool for any job. Grabbing a cheap one at the local big box store will most likely yield less than desirable results and most definitely with a less than desirable experience as well. We worked with a US brush maker to design and create "cheap chip brushes" that will last for years, yield professional results, and not open up like a clam as soon as it touches the paint. We pulled some from inventory to use in our Studio for classes when we got our first shipment over 3 years ago, and we haven't had to replace them yet! We also have an Economy Line of chip brushes for the one-stop-shop customer unwilling to invest in higher quality, longer lasting brushes. Of course all of these are natural bristles, ensuring a hand painted finish - perfect for antiquing.

Synthetic bristles, however, will give more of a factory type finish and are specifically called for when sealing with water based varnishes. We love the Wooster Shortcut because its short rubber handle reduces fatigue, and its angled bristles allow us to paint right up to a 90 degree (or less) corner with stunning accuracy.

Wax Brushes

Using a brush for waxing helps the job go faster and easier. Firm-bristled waxing brushes push the soft wax into the porous surface of the paint for a beautifully sealed surface. If using both clear and dark waxes, we recommend have a brush for each.

The Ultimate Wax Brush is the original waxing brush created to make the job of waxing ultimately easier. This brush is made of the highest quality materials available insuring a long lasting and durable waxing machine. The handle is balanced for less fatigue and a comfortable grip. The full long bristles reach into every nook and cranny and the wide 2" bristles covers large areas at a time. It is also available with a short handle; perfect for tight spots, smaller hands, and different waxing styles.

The Petite Wax Brush is perfect for smaller jobs, smaller hands or for antiquing specific areas. The handle is balanced for less fatigue and a comfortable grip, and the bristles are 1.5" wide - perfect for ornature, antiquing specific areas, or waxing small pieces. The long full bristles to insure all the carved areas are antiqued with ease. It is also available with a short handle; perfect for tight spots, smaller hands, and different waxing styles.

The Mini Wax Brush is the perfect waxing brush for those long flat surface like table-tops or kitchen cabinetry. It is ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the palm of your hand reducing fatigue while waxing those large flat areas. The bristles are soft plastic assuring the brush will not loose hairs in your project and will remain springy even when loaded with wax, but they're stiff enough to not be recommended for ornate details. The Mini Waxing brush comes with a palette knife for spreading the soft wax on like butter.

The Ultimate Buffing Brushes have a blend of synthetic and natural horse hair, and the ends are tapered to insure you will not scratch your surface. Buffing shortly after you wax will give you a beautiful luster. Waiting 24 hours before buffing your waxed piece will give you a greater shine.
